We intentionally did not create a large battlefield with entrenched fighting positions and other realistic elements. * please be aware that our concept trailer was shot in 48 hours on a very limited budget. While we are not in production yet, we did release a series of trailers to get people excited about the project. And I want to do it in a way that's not so 'in your face' that the average American wouldn't watch it. I want the average American to think about why having a firearm could be a good thing. I want to make the average American want to be self reliant. The only way I know to do that is tell a great story (that will reach hundreds of millions of homes) that makes people think. In short, our next generation in particular is eating up the negative messages Hollywood is sending about the things we hold dear. In general, the entertainment media has a bigger influence on people than anything else in their lives!! Where it gets scary is when you think about the last time firearms, self reliance and freedom were shown in a positive light in these settings. People generally spend more time consuming entertainment streams (TV, movies, whatever) than they do with other people. Part of why I'm doing the movie series is to influence public opinion in a positive way on a global level. Our plan is to make a trilogy of feature-length movies based on the book Lights Out - with recognizable actors, big production value, professional crews and other things you'd expect to see with a top-end independent movie. Feel free to weigh in if you have any suggestions! I've tried to completely overhaul this thread to provide information to people just finding out about the project. This thread is your chance to connect with the movie crew, producer and the writer and be a part of the movies! We'll provide updates here as we make progress on the project, and of course - this is your chance to ask any questions that are on your mind. After another companies movie rights expired on midnight December 31st 2012 - I immediately acquired the rights to make Lights Out into a movie series. I was an earlier follower and supporter of the story here on arfcom, and kept in touch David occasionally. Lights Out became so popular that David decided to have the story professionally edited and published in late 2010, and it quickly hit the top 10 action and adventure list on Amazon - and gained even more popularity. The story was available for download on multiple sites, and was downloaded many millions of times over the course of several years. For those aren't familiar with the story - Lights Out was written by our very own David Crawford (AKA "halffast") in our survival forum over the course of several years. This is our formal announcement here that we are making a movie series based on the best selling book "Lights Out" by David Crawford. View Agent supports a plug-in architecture, and so VADC is a small, efficient, native-code DLL. There is no additional service running and not even an additional process. An important design goal for this feature was to ensure the footprint was small. The guide also has information about how SSL server certificates can be set up and managed. The guide describes how VADC can be configured for use in an environment that uses NAT (network address translation) and port mapping for client connections so that a single IP address from View Clients can be used for all desktops, and a unique TCP port number can be used to select a specific desktop. A full list of these settings is described in the VMware Horizon View Agent Direct-Connection Administration guide. These can either be managed through Active Directory Group Policy Objects or by making registry updates directly in the Horizon View desktop master image. There are several other advanced configuration settings for VADC. The TCP port number can be changed later, if required. You can also allow the installer to configure the firewall to create an inbound rule to allow this port through. Normally you should leave this as the default value of 443. Of course, these installation steps would normally be performed on a master image and provisioned consistently across multiple desktops.ĭuring installation of the Horizon View Agent Direct-Connection Plug-In, you can specify the TCP port number that the HTTPS protocol will listen on for incoming connections from View Clients. That’s it! You can now start any View Client and specify the name or IP address of this Horizon View desktop. Install the Horizon View Agent Direct-Connection Plug-In 5.3 or newer.Install View Agent 5.3 or newer and reboot if requested. If you want to use VMware Tools, install it now.Install the Microsoft Windows operating system.Set up a virtual machine on the vSphere platform and change the default video RAM setting to a larger value (such as 128MB).Installation and configuration is very simple, but the order of the steps and configuration settings are very important. How Do I Install and Configure Horizon VADC Plug-In? Once connected, the user experiences the full capabilities of Horizon View as if they had connected via a View Connection Server. The user logs in as they normally would, either with a local user account or a domain account (if the desktop is joined to an Active Directory domain). When a user starts View Client, instead of specifying the name or IP address of a View Connection Server or View Security Server, they can specify the name or IP address of the Horizon View desktop itself. This diagram shows a View Client connecting directly to a Horizon View desktop virtual machine. Supported capabilities include PCoIP, RDP, USB redirection, sound, 3D, Real-Time Audio-Video (RTAV), Unity Touch, single sign-on, session management, and more. This component is essentially a mini View Connection Server on each Horizon View desktop that supports the full capabilities of each View Client (VMware and third-party). To support this direct-connection capability, a new Horizon View 5.3 software component called VMware Horizon View Agent Direct-Connection Plug-In (VADC) can be installed on each Horizon View desktop alongside View Agent. Brokerless Horizon View desktops – Simple 1:1 deployments where full brokering from View Connection Server is not needed.Several VMware partners have incorporated this feature into their branch office solutions for Horizon View. Branch offices – Branch office and retail store environments where VMware vSphere hosts running Horizon View desktops are deployed in multiple locations, and View Clients connect locally within each location without being constrained by WAN performance and reliability. Many Horizon View service providers are using this new technology today to offer subscription DaaS. This includes the new DaaS offering within VMware vCloud Hybrid Service (vCHS). Newly acquired by VMware, the Desktone platform enables service providers to deliver Windows desktops as a subscription service. DaaS – Multi-tenant Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) deployments such as those used with Desktone technology. This new feature is intended to allow Horizon View to be deployed to support some specific additional use cases. What Is the Horizon View Agent Direct-Connection For? VMware Horizon View Agent Direct-Connection (VADC) Plug-In enables some important new possibilities and flexibility in the way that Horizon View desktops can be used. One of the great new features of VMware Horizon View 5.3 is the ability for any View Client to connect directly to a Horizon View desktop without using View Connection Server. As Outlook Weekly said, foreign producers' impressions of Chinese movies were often that they "don't understand" them. Beijing Screenings, held annually for the last 15 years, is the place for international buyers hunting for Chinese movies worth their distribution rights. The capital and distribution problems that used to beset Chinese producers are no longer obstacles to absorbing significant proportions of their markets, but the current pitfall is that they cannot make movies that really grab Chinese audiences. According to the 2011 China Film Industry Research Report recently released by the China Film Association, Chinese producers don't enjoy a hefty share of the revenues from overseas market. The profit of one leading online portal such as Tencent, for example, surpassed the entire movie industry last year. However, even this figure is dwarfed by other media industries. Last year the total box office in China exceeded RMB 10 billion, to which James Cameron and other "foreign aids" made a great contribution. Chinese movies had these resources at their disposal (Kung Fu and the panda bear) but it took Americans to put them into a blockbuster. Kids enjoyed the animation, while accompanying grown-ups sighed at the use of iconic Chinese symbols. market, it knocked out the status quo in many countries: in France, it was a top draw in its first week after release. Though the movie's performance was not ideal in the U.S. The box office surpassed RMB 100 million in the first weekend (May 28 - 29), overwriting the record 100 million of Avatar's first three days. ON the eve of June 1, International Children's Day, Kung Fu Panda 2 was screened in China, a release scheduled as a gift for the nation's kiddies. † Based on a 2012 survey of Canadian vacationers by Leger Marketing, which found that WestJet Vacations was rated highest among the six most-used Canadian packaged vacation companies. On October 10, 2018, while covering landfall of Hurricane Michael in Panama City Beach, Florida, Cantore was forced to quickly dodge a flying piece of lumber while reporting live. Also, several Senate aides suggested that Bush is increasingly likely to exercise the option since the clock is ticking on the second term of his presidency. Since then, however, tensions have risen between the two branches, and on Wednesday sources said Reid doesn’t seem willing to negotiate with the White House this time. In August, the most recent lengthy Senate break, Reid and the White House brokered an agreement whereby the Senate pushed through a series of outstanding nominees before leaving town in exchange for a truce over recess picks. “As we head into the recess, we are talking to the White House about how to avoid any possible confrontations over nominations,” Manley said.ĭemocrats essentially have two choices when it comes to avoiding the controversial installments - keep the Senate working, or strike a deal with the administration to ensure that they don’t happen. He did acknowledge the idea of holding pro forma sessions is being discussed. Reid spokesman Jim Manley declined Wednesday to outline the Democratic Leader’s plans, only to say that the Senator hopes “to try to avoid” any unnecessary battles with the president over recess appointments. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) could all but block the president from doing so, however, if he opts to call the chamber into nonvoting sessions every three days - thus doing away with an extended recess. The move comes as speculation mounts that Bush will use the period to push through some controversial appointments while Senators are out of town for the two-week period. With just two days to go until the Thanksgiving recess, Democratic leaders once again are considering holding the Senate in a series of pro forma sessions to stop President Bush from using the break to install any of his outstanding executive branch nominees. |
